SHINING BRIGHT THIS CHRISTMAS

 The Tree of Light

The Big Switch On:

Saturday 18th November 2024 at 5pm

Compered by the BBC’s Jon Smith with entertainment from 3pm. The City’s Children’s Lantern Procession will arrive at Kings Square just in time for the 5pm countdown to switch-on and then moved off to the Cathedral for a short Carol Concert

Every November and December, The Tree of Light’s fabulous lights  shine brightly in The Oxebode,  Kings Square, Gloucester until after Christmas on 12th Night.

First launched in 2011, the huge tree adorned with thousands of lights has raised £93,000 for the local people of Gloucester and for local charities alike.

At our spectacular switch-on, Father Christmas, the City’s Mayor, the President of the Rotary Club of Gloucester,Phil McCormick, and others, will all be hosted by Jon Smith, Breakfast Show host at BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

Please support the Tree of Light by leaving a message and making a small donation to help us help others. Every penny counts and goes directly to support our local causes.

If you are interested in joining the Worldwide fellowship of Rotarians, please email our Membership team at info@glostreeoflight.co.uk and we’ll get back to you.

The Tree of Light is the perfect way this Christmas, after such a difficult period, to remember a loved one, to wish someone good luck for the New Year or just to send a message out to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, whilst raising money for our local Gloucestershire charities and Alabare.

What does the Rotary Tree of Light mean to you…?

‘It’s like doing something for the person that is not there anymore’. It shows that they are not forgotten’.

‘It is like sharing a moment with them. Like sharing a memory of a time gone by’.

‘It is about saying you still love them. It helps me to feel they are still part of my Christmas’.

‘It says that I have not forgotten those who have been part of my life. It is a symbol of my love’.

Gloucester’s Spectacular Tree!

The Rotary Club of Gloucester’s 2024 Tree of Light was a spectacular tree taking pride of place in Kings Square Gloucester in the heart of the city centre. This was the 13th year of the Tree of Light and during that time your generous donations and sponsorship of almost £93,000 have helped us support dozens of local charities. This year your support is more vital than ever and we hope you can donate and log your message.
